The Process

 1.  To begin with:

  • Contact me and discuss the type of ceremony you would like, and to establish my availability on that date and time

  • Arrange to meet with me at a mutually convenient time
  • To obtain a Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM), you can download this from my site.  I will also inform you of what other particulars are required for you to bring along to our first appointment to.  Alternatively the NOIM can be obtained from me at the meeting.  Please do not sign or date the NOIM beforehand, as I will need to witness your signature.

2.  Taking your booking:

  • Complete and submit the Notice of Intended Marriage form to myself.  This will include sighting of your required original documentations if they are available at this time.
  • Pay your deposit to confirm your booking.  This confirms the date and your deposit is non refundable.  A Statement of Fees will need to be signed as well.

  • We will discuss details of the ceremony, including readings, music, special wishes for rituals etc.  I will go through one of my manuals which will be on loan to you when we actually start writing your ceremony.  This manual contains examples of ceremonies, readings, poems, rituals, vows etc to help you with designing your ceremony
  • I will provide you with an information pack.  This pack will contain:
    • Information about relationship education and a brochure ‘Happily Ever... Before and After’

    • Information sheet from the Attorney General’s Office about what to do if you had concerns about your marriage celebrant.

    • Application for a Marriage Certificate from NSW Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages

    • Feedback Form which enables me to assess and improve my standards.  I would be pleased if you could take the time to complete the form after you wedding and return it to me.  Your feedback is invaluable, so that I can continue to provide the best possible service to my future clients.

3.  About 2-3 months before your wedding:

It is now time to start working on your ceremony.  During the development of your ceremony, open communication between ourselves is encouraged, whether it be through email, phone or by appointment.

  • A copy of my manual will be on loan to you to assist you with contributing to the ceremony.

  • I will email you with the first draft of your ceremony for your thoughts and comments.  We will continue to email each other as changes are made and until you are both happy with the final ceremony.  Don’t be alarmed if we end up getting to Version 8 of your ceremony.

  • I will also ensure that anything outstanding pertaining to the Notice of Intended Marriage is completed .

4.  Within 2 weeks before your wedding:

I will need to meet up with you both again to attend to a number of things as well as run through your ceremony for your re-assurance.  At this appointment:

  • Settlement of final payment due – including any additional costs if applicable.

  • My manual is to be returned to me.

  • Hand in your Application for Marriage Certificate (& the payment), if you wish for me to submit it on your behalf when I submit your wedding paperwork after your marriage to the Registry.

  • We will conduct a rehearsal of your wedding – re-assuring you of positions and what will happen at each stage of the ceremony.

  • Sign the next lot of legal paperwork required before the wedding - Form 14 Declaration forms.  This is stating that there is no reason that you know of why the marriage cannot take place.

  • Confirm the wedding details – time, date, venue address, parking arrangements
    .
  • Confirm table and chairs are available for the signing of the documents

  • Confirm the names of your Witnesses.

5.
 Two Days before your wedding:

I will either ring or email you to re-confirm again all arrangements.

6.  On your wedding day:

  • I will arrive at least 30 – 40 minutes before your wedding is due to start to ensure everything is set up.
  • If required, I will have a signing table and 2 chairs with my PA system at set up for your ceremony.  In most cases, I will only need to bring along my PA system as the bride and groom have generally looked after the signing table and chairs.
  • The final required paperwork will be signed after you are married.

  • A keepsake copy of your wedding ceremony will be provided to you.

7.  After your wedding:

  • I will submit all the required paperwork to the Registry.

  • If I am submitting your application for a Marriage Certificate on your behalf, the Registry will be posting your Certificate directly to you.

  • My development as a professional celebrant is ongoing and so your comments are welcomed on the feedback form that was provided to you earlier.
